For some reason, people love to brag to me about eating olive oil--this seems to apply to everyone, but especially to certain people who are overweight and suffering from a variety of chronic ailments. "I cook with olive oil", they proudly inform me, "it's the only oil I use!" Others, who are just learning about the benefits of a predominantly whole-foods, plant-based diet, are enthusiastic about recipes that require olive oil. Nutritarian? What on earth is a nutritarian?
Nutritarian is a word coined by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, author of Eat to Live, Eat for Health, and several other books relating to nutritional health issues. In Eat for Health, he writes:
